With reasons varying from impossible to please bosses, terrible pay, bad working conditions, or just not feeling like it, employers are at a loss of how to handle this situation. The young, vibrant, and brilliant are no longer seeking companies out for jobs.

Instead, they are choosing to find their way through. A path that will lead them to a life that they can call their own. One where doing what you love is no longer restricted to after-hours and weekends. While some are finding their answer in creating businesses from the ground up, others have chosen the remote work route. With its feasibility becoming apparent during the covid induced lockdowns which turned the business world on its head, its appeal has pulled in many.

Employers have essentially lost a huge chunk of the control they enjoyed over workers by simply threatening to cut pay, or even fire them. Weirdly enough, this can trace its origins in no small part to the freedom internet-induced knowledge has dropped in our laps. People now grow up with access to numerous success stories that have nothing to do with employment. This is in addition to the immeasurable ability of the web to create new and exciting opportunities which free us from the constraints of having to bend a knee to governments and corporations to make a comfortable living.

To top it all off, the everyday person can now see what it means to be wealthy. In the past, regular folk had little to no idea of the kind of access and benefits that came with being loaded. They may as well have been living in separate worlds. However, platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, and Netflix have brought us guided tours of this previously unexplored world. People now know exactly what they have been missing out on by following the paths laid out for us by society. And a good number are tossing this aside in pursuit of bottomless pockets.

These instant gratification generations are changing the way society as a whole works as many choose to create their futures in unexplored niches. New world order is coming and boy am I excited about it. There has never been a better time to explore ourselves and build all sorts of mind-blowing concepts and ideas without worrying about what others will think. With how interconnected and diverse our world has become, it is quickly becoming impossible to tie people down with universal standards. So is this the beginning of the end for the ageing practice of relying on full time employment to earn a living?
